Now even faster in the tenant app: Activation via text message or e-mail

 We have probably all experienced a feeling of impatience after downloading an app, eager to get started and benefit from all the services right away. The good news is that this is now possible with direct onboarding in the tenant app. It goes without saying that we still attach great importance to security and data protection.

With its reports of defects, contracts, documents and much more, the mobile easy­square application for everything to do with housing has already impressed countless tenants. So that you can use all the digital services of the  tenant app without restriction, you need to undergo a registration and activation process to protect your personal data.

Here, too, we are striving to further improve our service concept and are simplifying onboarding to make registration even faster and more user friendly. Whereas in the past the process has involved a letter from the landlord, it can now also be done in no time at all by text message or e-mail. Instead of an activation code sent by post, the tenant now also has the option of text message or e-mail verification and, assuming the check is successful, can use the app in just a few minutes.

Performing activation

Tapping on “Activate” will open an authentication form. There are now three options here:

  1. As before, you can request your activation code from your landlord by entering your personal details and complete the activation as soon as the code has arrived by post.
  2. New text message activation option: Here, users choose the option of being verified by text message. For data comparison, not only the mobile phone number, but also the residential address is requested. Prerequisites: The mobile phone number is already stored in the landlord’s or housing company’s SAP® ERP system.
  3. New e-mail activation option: User can be verified directly by e-mail. For data comparison, not only the e-mail address, but also the residential address is requested. Prerequisites: The e-mail address is already stored in the landlord’s or housing company’s SAP® ERP system.

The Benefits

For all three options, top priority is assigned to the protection of personal information. Thus, the various checking mechanisms are also secure for the new activation options and the advantages are obvious:

  1. Automatic check of the tenant’s residential address and mobile phone number or e-mail address stored in the ERP system and automatic activation. Advantages: No costs for creating letters, postage and shipping, and complete elimination of the need for employees to check the tenant data and generate the activation code.
  2. Manual check of the tenant’s residential address and mobile phone number or e-mail address stored in the ERP system and automatic activation. Advantages: No costs for creating letters, postage and shipping.
  3. In the case of points 1 and 2, the tenant no longer has to enter the activation code manually. This avoids errors during entry and expired or blocked activation codes.
  4. If the check for the text message/e-mail fails, the activation code will be sent by letter to the residential address specified by the tenant following a manual verification of the address.

With the successful activation in the tenant app, users can now use all services offered by the landlord without restriction.
